I haven't written in while, because my shoulder/neck pain got out of hand and typing was not a fun activity.
In the meantime, Stuart and I have been to Edmonton to volunteer at this year's Blackfoot, which was fun and went pretty smoothly. The weather was nice for us volunteers, although the afternoon got a little warmer than the racers would have picked. On Sunday, Mom and I went to see The Wizard of Oz at the Citadel Theater. It was by far the most technically demanding show I've seen them do and they pulled it off really well. I think Julien Arnold may have been born to play the role of the Cowardly Lion. The only jarring thing was the actress playing Dorothy Gail. For some reason, when she sang, her lower lip pulled off to the side, so it looked a bit like Jean Chretien, but wide open. It was like a car accident - I couldn't look away.
In happy, happy news, Ursa is officially booked to get on a plane on Monday - adjusting for time zones, etc. we should have her here late afternoon on Tuesday, June 9. The timing sucks a bit as I am organizing a two day conference next week and can't take time off, but Stuart will stay home with her for a couple of days. I'm also going to be busy for a week or two catching up on all the treatments I had to cancel because of my crazy muscle spasms.
I had my check up with the dentist this morning and they weren't kidding about it being thorough! This was x-rays and exam - no cleaning - and I was there for almost two hours. On the plus side, although I already knew quite a bit about average mouth physiology, I learned a whole lot about MY mouth specifically. Apparently, I have the teeth of a 16 year old, very little damage or wear - but despite my best efforts at brushing and flossing, I have two little cavities I have to go back to have filled. The dentist seems to think that it's perfectly ok, given the overall condition but I find it a bit disappointing. At least I still have my good dental coverage!
