Friday

What a week. I can't remember if I've mentioned/complained about it before, but we use PeopleSoft here at the University. The most useless, poorly designed, ridiculous piece of driving me over the brink of sanity software ever. I could fill pages and pages of vitriol, but I'll spare you - suffice it to say, I hate it and today has done nothing but reinforce that.

The great dog hunt continues, as Stuart searches for a breeder in Canada and I chase emails across Europe, looking for puppies with tails. It doesn't seem like it should be so hard! Why all the fuss? Why not just get a dog with a cropped tail? The short answer is because I'm my father's daughter. The back story is that my dad did his graduate work in evolutionary biology, specifically working with foxes and wolves. He is very much against cropping tails because A) they are an important component of canid communication and B) they are a big part of balance, stopping and turning ability when you're moving fast on four legs. Why would you deliberately impede your dog, for the sake of "the look"? It's bad enough when we do it to ourselves, but at least then it's our choice.

We only have one more class of "lectures" in Colour Theory, and I'm glad, because last night I realized that I'm getting tired of it. She may know her stuff and be a great painter, but god she is not a teacher. Oh well, after next week, it's two evenings of class presentations to suffer through and then it's all over. And it hasn't been bad, just a lot more work and stress than I anticipated.

Tonight, we are babysitting the twins. I have no idea if anyone is going to show up for game night, but I hope so, because if they have our undivided attention, I won't have enough energy to survive the night.
