It was a long, action-packed weekend and I just knew I would forget something. And Stuart was kind enough to point out that I did. On Sunday morning, we went to meet a BRT in real life.
Ian got his dog Sasha from the Midnight Solo breeders in Ontario. Sasha is about 2 years old and currently weighs in at 90lbs. He's about as tall as he's probably gonna get, but still quite lean, so he looks like a colt, all legs! His head is about at my waist when we're both standing up - I'm 5'8" and high-waisted, so he's not short. He was quiet, friendly, enthusiastic and intelligent; Stuart and I were both charmed.
Now, we're waiting on word from the landlords. I am capable of patience, but I find in this case that I'm not enjoying it. We've done a lot of our homework and have the rest mapped out - I don't want to start reading training books unless I KNOW a puppy is coming. If they say yes, then I think the next decision will be where to get the dog from. The breeder at Midnight Solo was very helpful and full of information, but they dock all the puppies' tails and are turning out to be more expensive than breeders from the US or overseas. I've also contacted a breeder in France, Setextra, who doesn't dock the tails and who can ship us one for less than the folks in Ontario! Stuart is hesitate about getting a dog from outside the country, but I've read the government website and it's pretty straightforward - no quarantine or anything.
If you can't see the litter before you pick, does it matter where it is?
