It takes me 10 minutes to walk to work, and I have to say that I am normally fed up with humanity by the time I get there. I cut through the warren of the hospital and other buildings that take up the South Campus; both because it's winter and because construction cuts off the outdoor route. The hallways are not that wide, but people seem to feel that it's necessary to stroll three abreast, chatting and oblivious to the half mile of traffic piling up behind them. No one holds doors for anyone, smiles at (or even acknowledges) people walking the other way and if they are in a bigger hurry than you are, they have no problems with stepping on your toe as they cut you off. I don't know where the quote originates, but I'm in sympathy: I'm not prejudiced, I hate everyone equally.
Having got a start on the Graphic Design certificate has motivated me to get my butt out of the office sometime in the next five years, and the other half of that equation is more shiatsu clients. So I've been looking at advertising options. Since no one knows what shiatsu is, it's hard to come up with a catchy, explanatory ad in the space I can afford. What I really need is a website, so I can list the URL in the ad. So I guess it's time for me to pester Stuart and myself until we actually sit down and build one. 'Cause we have so much spare time. LOL
Which is kind of funny, 'cause I'm currently in the process of building two websites at work. However, the university uses Drupal, so I don't count it as the same thing. Drupal is 90% pre-formatted and you just drop in the text/pictures/links you need. No HTML required. The hardest part there is getting the appropriate people to produce the copy.
In other news, I just got back from having my second professional foot massage. It was about 90% as painful as the first time, and Crystal tells me that she got deeper before I started screaming, so that's a good sign. It's amazing how everything is relative, isn't it? I wonder if I can apply that to the first paragraph somehow?
