We must be moved into the new house, because we had a reasonably successful housewarming party on Saturday. The people who said they'd come did and the people who were undecided or declined didn't, so no surprises. Everyone contributed yummy food and the evening consisted of eating, conversing and watching Ella, Myles, Matthew and Calvin whoop it up. I got a line on some potential advertising for the shiatsu, the boys got to push out some random woman's car that got stuck outside our house and our landlords showed up after almost everyone else had left. Overall, it wasn't rockin', but it was a very respectable grown-up couples' event. I have no idea how Stuart and I came to be involved!
On Sunday, Stuart managed to sell him whole collection of BattleTech minis and books, for about $800. This, of course, is a huge deduction on the original price, but it's all going away and he doesn't have to worry about getting stuck with the less desirable stuff, so he was ecstatically happy. While he was doing that, I was off stocking up for our Colour Theory class, which starts on Thursday. Afterwards, we went to Steve's for shiatsu and then to watch The Dark Knight. Finally.
We liked it. I mean, it lives up to it's name and is amazingly dark, but it's incredibly well done. The only major complaints were: A) the woman playing Rachel was awful - far too bubbly and not very attractive - it was actually distracting me from the storyline and B) most military helicopters have doodads on the front specifically to catch and snap lines, so that whole scene was boogus. Given everything else, they couldn't lay hands on a ground to air missile:? C'mon! Stuart said he thought it was better than Iron Man, but I say that isn't a fair comparison - if you're going to compare, it should be Iron Man vs. Batman Begins and I'd say they come out pretty darn close.
In weather news, we've finally got a decent Chinook up and running, so they're forecasting a high of +15 for the second day running. It won't last, of course, and the end of the week will see us back in "normal" below zero temps, but it's sure nice for now!
