Twice before in my life, I've had this weird skin thing happen. It would start around my lips - at first I would think it was just cracking. But it would get worse and I thought maybe it was a cold sore. I tried over-the-counter cold sore medications, but they didn't do any good. The sore would weep and it would spread wherever it wept. It was kind of itchy and burny and always painful. But after about 3 weeks, they would heal up on their own.
I was reading another blog by a woman who was talking about suffering from severe impetigo. Her symptoms sounded familiar, so I went Googling. I haven't been to a doctor to have it confirmed, but I feel reasonably confident that's what it is. This is Round 3, and each one has been at a time when I'm particularly stressed out.
I didn't feel like having a round of antibiotics, so I went to my friendly local community health store and asked if they had any thoughts. I bought a bottle of Goldenseal and started putting diluted clove oil on the sore. It's been a week and it's starting to heal up already. I feel so much happier to be healing up sooner than I expected.
In other news, I had an appointment for an eye exam and to order new contacts. For the first time that I ever remember, my prescription didn't change. I've had years when it didn't change much, but I don't think it's ever not changed at all. I was a bit afraid she would tell me that it was time to go to bifocals, but she uses reading as her measure; I'm not moving the book around to focus on it, so I'm good for now. I'll just keep peering around my lenses at things that are really close up. LOL
