I ended up taking Ursa for her final blood work on Tuesday. The vet said, "Did you know how toxic xylitol is for dogs?" Strikes me as a silly question, but whatever. He made an assortment of comments along the lines of how a dose that big (we think she got 80-100gr) would have killed his little dog. Basically, he managed to freak me out all over again and I'm not sure what his purpose was.
Anyway, he took the blood and also gave me some new meds for her ear infections. She lives up to being a girl in one way - those yeast infections just won't stay down. Apparently, even the melt from playing in the snow is enough to set up a good environment for them. So I guess we get to towel her ears, as well as her exterior, whenever she's been out romping. Oh yeah, she'll like that.
The vet called me back Tuesday afternoon to say that all her levels were normal - so phew! She's back to normal and seems to have escaped without any serious, permanent damage. Now Stuart and I just have to recover from the trauma and it will be life as normal as ours gets.
Since last week was a write off due to being sick and the weekend was a write off due to Ursa being sick, Stuart graciously took her for her walk last night. That enabled me to do a whole schwack of work on my dress for the office Christmas party. I actually bought the pattern and fabric for last year's party and ran out of time to make it. I just have to hem the sleeves and the bottom and it'll be ready to go! Better late than never?
