Indoor plumbing and ongoing illness

Stuart wasn't feeling well last night, so while he went home to nurse himself, I went off to the gym and art class by myself. You'd think it would be a great opportunity to slack, but no, I felt some weird sense of guilt and thus pushed myself to do a long (for me!) cardio session, hit the weights and then make a healthy (as possible in a food court) dinner choice. Sigh. Class was a quick review of the lecture notes from last week, followed by more paint mixing, which made the three hours go by surprisingly fast.

Perhaps as a recognition of my efforts to be good, when I got home, the new toilet had been installed. Fortunately, the rose carved seat cover is gone! The new one is a low flow, but in a style I haven't seen before. It has one flush mechanism, but you control how much water is used by how long you hold down the handle. According to the plumber, the two button ones have problems, so hopefully this one will hold up better. At any rate, there is no longer a white noise generator in the bathroom, so I'm happy!

Stuart had basically put himself to bed when I got home last night and was running enough of a fever that I ended up tossing off the extra blanket I usually keep on my side. He was putting out a lot of heat! It was unsurprising then that he stayed home today. He still had a fever, as well as swollen glands, a sore throat and by now, probably a head full of congestion. The irony is that we just finished a course of Vitamin C on Monday - so all I can imagine is that the bugs and his immune system were fighting a pitched battle and then we took away the supply lines. Sigh. Who knew?!?!?

We're off to Edmonton tomorrow, which was supposed to be fun, but might turn out to be an exercise in endurance. We'll see.
