Is it finally over?

We moved this weekend. It mostly went smoothly, although there was one interesting boggle at the beginning. Stuart went off to collect Dean and the truck and a little while later, my cell phone rang. Stuart had booked a truck through Budget and they neglected to tell him that reserving a truck doesn't guarantee that you actually get one. I'm not sure why they call it a reservation. At any rate, when he got there *poof* no more trucks. So, there was steam coming out of the phone as he asked me to call around and try to rent one somewhere else. I figured, Saturday morning of the last weekend of the month? We're pooched. However, first place I called had one and it was cheaper than Budget. Yeah!

So we started a little late, but everything went well. My feet were killing me, so I cheated and mostly stayed upstairs packing the remainder, while everyone else worker anted up and down three flights with boxes and furniture. (Everyone, btw, was Erin, Paul, Dean, Mike and Steve - thanks guys!) They didn't packed the truck tight, so we took the first load over, unpacked and had pizza before heading back for the last few things. Mom arrived just as we were finishing, so we did a bit of organizing and unpacking before heading over to Toi Shan for dinner. From there, we went back and cleaned the old place. Big thanks to Mom for helping out with that!!!

Sunday was spent unpacking, running errands and doing a bit of Christmas shopping to send stuff back with Mom. After months of shopping, I finally found a new set of dishes I like, so all the 70's pattern stuff and miscellaneous bits are going back to Stuart's mom. Yeah!!! I also found the new food processor on sale, so I picked that up. I stayed home on Monday to put plastic on the windows, unpack more, run more errands and take measurements. Last night, Stuart and I went to IKEA for the traditional "just moved, must spend money" trip and managed to spend our damage deposit, so tonight will be an IKEA assembly frenzy. But at least I'll be able to unpack the rest of the kitchen and books!
