Resigned

After a great deal of frustration, soul searching, pondering and conversations, culminating in a bout of insomnia last night, I decided to hand in my resignation today, as the Administrative Coordinator for SACRI and McCaig. Since I only started the position in May, this is definitely in the top five of jobs I've kept for the shortest time.

What it boiled down to, and what I finally only realized at some god awful time this morning, is that the AUPE dictated policies of the University HR department are diametrically opposed to my own principles. So I could either act against my beliefs for $400/month and spend the money on massage, antacids and therapy or I could tell 'em 'thanks but no thanks'.

Those of you who know me, will probably agree when I say that while I love having money to spend, I've never been the type who's particularly focused on getting lots of it. (Stuart and I will probably never be able to retire, but at least we're having fun along the way!) So I turned in my letter this afternoon, had a chat with my supervisor in HR to convince her that this was really what I wanted and bingo - the knot in my right shoulder is looser already.

NOW I'm excited about going to China!
