Ch- ch- ch- ch- ch- ch- changes!

We got the news today that our company, Telvent, is being bought from our current parent company Abengoa by Schneider Electrical.  For some of my friends working here, this is the third, fourth, fifth, sixth or more time that Telvent has gone through a name/ownership change. We all spent a good hour or two discussing the immediately interesting effects of this and emails continue to fly as we work our way into deeper ramifications.

The truth of the matter is that at this point, it is all pure speculation and for the time being, our day to day work won't change at all. We are speculating about things that might change for the better:

  • corporate color scheme goes from orange to green!
  • maybe we can ditch Lotus Notes as our company email program
  • no more NOC training or Campus Abengoa
And things that might change for the worse:
  • what happens to the summer Fridays half day off program?
  • will we still move to a new, custom built space?
  • what if they replace NOCs with something just as bad (or *gasp* worse!)?
All I know for sure at this point is that after 1.5 years, I had just gotten my business cards; and now after barely two weeks, they are already obsolete.  Sigh.  That and this will certainly provide more blog fodder over the summer as I share my elation/appall as the changes roll out.

I'm really hoping that you're kidding about using Lotus Notes. :P

I wish I was kidding too. MS calls it "Locust Notes"!
