I'm not prejudiced,

I hate everyone equally.  This is one of my Dad's favourite phrases and as time goes passed, I'm appreciating it less for its phrasing and more for its meaning.

Driving in to work this morning, I turned onto the block where my office building resides.  A large woman was wandering down the middle of the street, making absolutely no effort to move out of the path of traffic.  Along that side of the block runs a strip of perfectly good sidewalk.  (And I mean it, perfectly good; "like new" in fact, which is amazing for Calgary - no frost heaves, no cracks, no crumbling edges.  I actually notice how great it is to walk on, every time I use it!)

So anyway, she's walking down the middle of the road, so I pull up very slowly behind her.  Then I creep along behind her for several feet, thinking she'll get out of the way when she hears the engine. Nope.  So I give a very quick beep on the horn.  I didn't lean on it blaring for half a minute, I didn't nudge her with the bumper, I didn't roll down the window and shout invective at her - I *beeped*.  To which she responded by looking over her shoulder and glaring at me.  She STILL didn't move onto the sidewalk, just drifted about a foot closer to it.  She continued to glare at me as I pulled partway into the oncoming lane to go around her and when I glanced in the rearview mirror, she was still in the street, giving me the evil eye with all the oomph she could muster.

Unless some evil fairy cast a "no sidewalks" compulsion on her, I can only hope that she gets a richly deserved Darwin award sometime soon.

Other than that, life proceeds apace.  Stuart's parents stayed with us Sunday night and for reason cleaned all the light fixtures.  My mom is with us now and is embracing her martyr complex by painting all the baseboards - thanks mom!!!  I've painted out the pink bathroom and my next project is to strip the master bedroom closet of its wallpaper and paint that room.  Stuart removed the useless shelf from the skinny kitchen cabinet and installed the pullout shelf I bought, so it now houses all my bottles of oil, vinegar, juice and booze.  Yeah!

Once the master bedroom is finished, then all the immediate need stuff will be done and we can relax a bit.  One more crazy busy weekend and then next weekend we are going camping.  I intend to sleep in, eat nice food, go for walks with Ursa and spend a lot of time in the hammock!
