Thirty-six

Well, it wasn't a thrill a minute, but there have definitely been worse birthdays.  As I believe I've mentioned, I like to celebrate my birthday and I like to get presents.  It's just too sad for me that other people assume that a) I object to aging or b) I'm too old to get excited, so no one wants to really get into a partying mood with me.

My Dad gave me my present a month ago - a lovely cotton batik print scarf.  But I picked it out and I've worn it several times, so the shiny has kinda rubbed off that gift.  This morning, Stuart had a wrapped present for me!  It was a new set of hankies and a hoodie that I'd asked for that was from him and my mom.  I've been wearing the hoodie all day and I'm quite fond of it.  I wish I could afford one in every color!  He also made a trip to Cobb's yesterday, so I had tea, toast and a white chocolate and raspberry scone awaiting me for breakfast.  :)  My parents called, but I still had to go to work today, so there wasn't time for a long chat.

Work was the usual, nothing unusual there.  It was my day to work the afternoon from home, so at least I could just work on my list and be brainless for a couple of hours.  Not exactly relaxing, but much less taxing than it could have been.  And my sister actually called to wish me a happy birthday!  And there was a card in the mail from Grandma and Grandpa Elle, with my birthday cheque in it - that was nice.  When Stuart got home, he called them and Grandma Parsons, so we could do belated Mother's Day wishes in exchange for birthday wishes.  There is apparently another card in the mail for me.

Stuart had a mini gaming session tonight, so Heidi took me out to dinner.  Since Stuart doesn't like to do wings, I chose to go to Kelsey's for all you can eat wings.  Sadly, they've changed them to these heavily battered, under flavoured things and you can't swap out salad for the fries, even for an extra charged.  It was nice to do once for the nostalgia, but I guess that's another old favourite done in by corporate greed. Sitting and chatting with Heidi was fun though.

After I dropped her off, I swung by Chinook Mall to by some new undies and a quart of Marble Slab vanilla bean ice cream.  I got home and found a very skeezy puppy, so it was straight out the door for our walk.  Fortunately, although not exactly balmy, the weather was greatly improved today, so the walk was quite enjoyable.  Stuart got a ride home with a friend, so he was here making lunches when we got back.  There was also a birthday message on the machine from his parents - apparently they decided to save the stamp, so I'll get a card from them next weekend when we're in Edmonton.

Stuart and I each had a bowl of ice cream with raspberries from the garden that I'd frozen.  Super yummy!  And now I guess it's time to call this birthday done (although obviously, some parts will carry on for a while!)
Cheers!
