So, you wondered to yourself, just how out of it can little old allergies make a person? I can't speak for others, but personally I can say that I totally forgot to mention a very important highlight of our weekend activities.
My high school friend Kim was in town and we got together for brunch on Sunday. Did I mention that in my last post? There you go!
Kim, Karen and Aerin were the trio in high school. Among many other characteristics, I liked hanging out with them, because frankly, in the mix I was the slower, underachieving party - it was a refreshing place to stand! We all did IB, Creative Writing club, Debate Club... you get the drift. Anyhoo, Karen is now a mommy and making a name for herself in the Canadian poetry scene and Kim is an Assistant? Associate? Professor in the English department at Western University. The UofC had brought her out for a conference, so I squeezed out time to meet her.
She and Stuart hadn't actually met, so the three of us tried out a new (to us) place for brunch. Diner Deluxe is a place that we're going to have to return to. It was super busy, but the wait was worth it - yummy, yummy food. We had a great chat, talking about family, life on campus, puppies... and in deference to Stuart, we kept the reminiscing to a minimum. Kim is definitely someone I'd like to keep in closer contact with, but I think we both feel that email is a pretty inferior way of staying in someone's life. I did my best to convince her to succumb to Facebook - will see if I was successful!
I wonder what else of import happened that I've blanked on?
