I didn't sleep well last night... I was having weird dreams. In the one I remember best, I was trying to work half days in Calgary and visit with Michelle in Montreal part days. It wasn't working out well and I was exhausted all day today as a result!
I met up with Carmen this morning and we made our way through the drifting snowflakes to the hospital. Michelle was up and much more alert. She'd had enough anesthetic still in her system to "recycle" breakfast, but by the time lunch came around, she was able to hang on to it. The hospital and the recovery home are great, I have to say. The staff are friendly, the buildings are professional, clean and comfortable, and the food is yummy. She had seafood rice today and the spoonful I stole was quite tasty! (And no, I wasn't stealing the invalid's food; she's still mostly eating the broth and jello.)
While I'm singing plaudits, I have to say that I'd move to Montreal just for the public transit system. I have to thank the city founders because the Metro is awesome. Everywhere we want to go, we seem to say "great, it's only a few blocks from the Metro!" I haven't been tooling around any later than 10-ish, but so far, there have been trains and buses within minutes of every stop we've arrived at.
Anyway, I visited with Michelle and tried to keep Carmen company until Veronique was out of surgery. Veronique did well, and since she'd had an epidural she was a lot more lucid than Michelle was post-surgery. Once we knew that Veronique was good, Carmen and I went to lunch with one of the other companions. We finally got some veggies - yeah!! We went back and hung out until it was almost dinner time - by that point, almost everyone was wilting. Michelle managed two shuffles down the hall and back - looking pretty good, really. We left the hospital and went to the IGA for some real groceries, then made our way home.
I've had a quiet evening, eating sushi, trying to make sense of SPRs and making sandwiches for lunch tomorrow. Now I can't decide whether I'm happy or not happy that I didn't get snack food. Oh well, it's time for bed soon, anyway.
