Jingle, jingle, jingle

It seems that the holiday season is upon us - even I have the Christmas lights turned on now. So where am I at in the preparations stage? My handmade cards went into the mail last night; no picture but there is a letter highlighting our past year's events. I have one more gift card to buy and then it's just waiting for the last few online orders to trickle in. Everything I've already got in my little hands has been wrapped and tagged.

Last night, Stuart and I took Ella and Myles to Zoolights again. Ella teleconferenced with Santa and they both had fun on the slides. Ella's apparently old enough now to work out that she gets better speed if she puts a little snow under her butt at the top. Whoosh! After being told not to eat the pretty poinsettia leaves, she started to "feed" one to inanimate objects, thereby creating "poison Christmas trees", "poison garbage cans", etc. Five year olds are weird. She also said that she wasn't too excited about the rest of the trip, because "they're just lights". It's not fair that you can be jaded at 5 years old! Fortunately, Myles still thinks the lights are great. :)

Today, I was asked by a friend to help organize a Christmas gift surprise, so Stuart and I will work on that this weekend. In between getting ready for the party we're hosting on Saturday, of course. Nothing outrageous - I just thought it would be fun to give everyone a chance to hang out and chat and distract them from their own "to do" lists for a while. And on Sunday we are going showshoeing with Heidi and a friend of hers. I fully expect to be A) the slowest of the group and B) in some kind of pain on Monday. Fortunately, that still leaves a couple of days for recovery before we head up to Edmonton.
