As it turned out, I did come down with a minor ear/sinus infection and felt lousy for a couple of days. The Weather Network reports allergens at "low" but I think they are evil liars. My allergies are ramped up enough to cause sneezing, itchy eyes and noticeable fatigue - and I'm not doing it because it's so much fun!
Friday night at Mike and Ang's was actually at Steve's last week, since they'd pawned the kids off and wanted to see something other than their own house. We all did monster burgers and watched the first two episodes of "Pushing Daisies" - again. I like the show, but I'd like to move forward please! In other tv news, Stuart discovered that "Castle" has been renewed for another season, yeah!!!
I cleaned the car on Saturday while Stuart did more yard work; he's very good at it, for a guy who doesn't like it! As a reward, we headed off in the afternoon to see the new Start Trek movie. It wasn't as bad as I feared, but I can't say I particularly liked it. There were too many little annoying things to overcome. 1) If I want to watch fan fic, I'll watch fan fic. I realize that Gene is dead and there will be no more from him, but there's A LOT of Star Trek already out there and I can live without more. Especially more that screws around with basic stuff: 2 Spocks roaming the universe? Spock and Uhuru making out? Bleagh. 2) It was all a bit "90210" for me. Lots of beautiful young adults learning to live with an unfair world. Sigh. 3) I don't remember if it was in a preview or the movie, but at one point, Stuart said "I almost wish they've never developed CGI" and I have to agree. Storytelling has definitely fallen behind "ooh, isn't it pretty?" in importance. Sadly.
Sunday morning, Stuart got up at some ungodly hour to go off and run Yamnuska with Mike. Ursa and I slept in until about 8:40. (I used to be able to sleep in until the afternoon - being an adult sucks.) However, I tried to make a virtue of it, and cleaned the house, did laundry, baked cookies and washed the dishes. I could have used a nap, but by then it was time to head over to Steve's again. He got his treatment, then we ate pizza and watched "Get Smart". It's not 100% faithful to the original tv series, but I liked it!
We polished off the weekend by going over to our landlords for dessert and discussion with them and their neighbours. It made for a slightly late evening and I was a bit itchy from their cats, but it was fun.
I have clients tonight and tomorrow and sometime in there, I have to pack for our time away. It must be summer, I only get to sleep in my bed sporadically.
