Stuart and I found an awesome place last night. It's a 3 bedroom house, hardwood floors, partially developed basement, big yard, $1500/month including utilities and we're moving in on Saturday. It's an older house, but it seems to have been well maintained. The kitchen is definitely older and a bit awkwardly laid out, but given the overall space and the fact that it's about a 10 minute walk to work - YIPPEE!!!! It's at the back of the community, right up against the bottom of the hill, so there won't even be much traffic.
We wrote checks, got receipts and a key last night, so after we said "bye", it was off to the mall for big celebratory Marble Slab ice cream cones. We were both bouncing with relief and happiness (and sugar), so we stopped to get felt pads for the furniture and a new shower curtain while we were out, trying to kill enough of the buzz to get to sleep.
I woke up this morning at around 3:30, mentally re-arranging furniture and making lists of everything I have to do. I still have to survive the office Christmas party on Friday night (which I help organize), the move on Saturday and the old place cleaning on Sunday, but after the last month, it still all seems somewhat anti-climactic.
